Alter Advising
Dr. Alison Alter connects ideas, opportunities, and people to achieve meaningful results. Throughout her career, she has launched projects, raised funds, distributed awards, and encouraged participation for both local and globally focused initiatives. Alison also has stewarded programs through ongoing growth and change.
In her advising practice, Alison draws on over 20 years of experience working in higher education and the nonprofit sector. She taught political economy and international public policy at Harvard, Stanford, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She served as a director of strategic planning, managing director, and associate director at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Wisconsin - Madison, as well as a development director at the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences Arts and Letters. She has demonstrated a commitment to her community, chairing park renovation projects and contributing to various boards of directors.
Alison obtained her Ph.D. in Political Economy and Government at Harvard University and her B.A. in Public Policy from Stanford University. She speaks five languages and has lived overseas in Italy, France, Germany, Norway, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Spain.
